ONC 2023 Blog Series Intro

Welcome to The WriMo Blog where I share my monthly writing goals, project progress, and more! Today's post is all about my new blog series! If this interests you, keep reading!
Writer friends, it’s nearly that time again! The 2023 edition of Wattpad’s Open Novella Contest (aka ONC) is just around the corner and as promised, I am going to be taking you along, and sharing what I’ve learned in my previous participation, all the tips and tricks.

What can you expect to find in this series? I talked a base concept in a previous post, but that was a while ago now.

Tips and tricks are a given, but I will also be sharing my previous experience in the contest; things I learned along the way. This does not include my current progress for 2023. There will also a way for all of us to share and discuss our blockages and progress, together. If anyone is interested in a Discord channel for us to gather and talk/share, I am happy to create one!
My goal is for one post a week, but there may be an exception from time to time. If I happen to pick up something new during the new season, I will share it.

What is the Open Novella Contest? Short version; a yearly challenge where writers across the globe write a 20,000 word story in 12-weeks, and your story much be based on the prompts provided by the contest moderators. They will have a full book a rules, adjusted to each edition of the contest. I will link that book when it becomes available.

When in doubt, refer to that information book. There will be questions that I cannot answer myself, so don’t be afraid to comment over there with your questions. If you do have questions for me, I will do my best to answer them, otherwise I will direct you to the info book.

Finally, here are some disclaimers I wish to be upfront about;
1) This blog and series is not affiliated with the Wattpad website, the Ambassadors, nor is there affiliation with the ONC moderators. I am not receiving any sponsorships  from Wattpad associated individuals.
1-a) This blog series is actually made possible by the Tip Jar membership. So, in theory, it is sponsored by all of you amazing people who are giving support.
2) If you’re a Write Monthly member on my BuyMeaCoffee page, you have early access to all series before they are made public on the actual blog(this does include my personal ONC progress). You can join for as little as $3 on a monthly basis. There is also the option to join as a yearly member, but monthly will benefit members the best. Cancel at anytime, no strings attached. You will still have access to all public posts, you will just have to wait for them to feature on the public blog.
3) I think this might fall under the previous point, I’m not sure. But I’ve decided to keep my personal ONC progress separate from this blog series, only because I feel the tips and tricks aspect is the main focus. You’ll still get to read those posts, but they won’t be linked to the blog series.
3-a) All posts will be available to revisit at any time. I will be creating a post-index so you can go back and revisit later.

I think that is all I hoped to cover, unless I think of something later then I’ll add it here later. Thank you for joining me. I look forward to discussing more with you as the ONC moves forward. Stay safe, stay awesome. See you in the funny papers!
