Welcome to The WriMo Blog where I share my monthly writing goals, project progress, and more! I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am about the 2025 edition of the Open Novella Contest! Sure, I’ve expressed the early excitement, I brought it up a lot in the last several weeks. But now, it’s just around the corner! If this interests you, keep reading!

I am writing this update after having been sick in bed for several days. But even as I was in bed, I was brimming with excitement. Especially since I have been filling up my 2025 Writing Planner. Well, sort of—I’ve been calculating my writing days and setting my writing goals.

I have also come up with my ONC reward system. I have chosen my mini rewards, as well as my overall achievement reward. I don’t want to make this challenge about earning my rewards, but in this particular case, having an incentive is pretty awesome.

If you’re following me on TikTok (yes, it’s still ticking) you saw my clip about my “Candy Punch Card”. If not, let me explain: I have made an index that I punch a hole into for every 1,500 words I write. Each hole-punch earns me a piece of butterscotch candy. Here’s that clip for visual aid.
